Krzysztof Wolek (born 1976 in Bytom) is a composer, improviser, electronic music performer and teacher. Committed to promoting contemporary acoustic music, electroacoustic and multimedia art. Interdisciplinary interest in Christopher Wolek resulted organized annually by the concerts and projects, involving, in addition to the musicians, the dancers and visual artists. His interest in electronic music and multimedia developed by participating in courses for young composers organized in cooperation with the ISCM Polish Section, STEIM and IRCAM. In 2001 he moved to the United States for doctoral studies in composition (with Marta Ptaszynska) and computer music at the University of Chicago, where he also worked as a manager of Computer Music Studio. Among his most important teachers should be mentioned, in addition to the above, as Shulamit Ran and Howard Sandroffa. Works of Christopher Wolek were performed including at international music festivals such as Warsaw Autumn (eppure the muove 2007, Un claro del tiempo 2008 Elements 2009), the Festival of Contemporary Music at the University of Louisville, SEAMUS, SPARK, the International Computer Music Conference, Audio Art Festival, the International Contemporary Dance Conference , Musica Polonica Nova in the Contemporary World Music Days ISCM. He received orders from institutions such as the Warsaw Autumn festival, Foundation. Ernst von Siemens and SCI / ASCAP and grants and scholarships from the University of Chicago and Louisville, Foundation for Contemporary Arts and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. His work has been honored with numerous awards and honors, most important of which is a prize for Mobile Variations awarded at the Concours Internationaux de Musique et d’Art Sonore Electroacoustiques in Bourges in 2007. Works of Christopher Wolek includes a variety of works of purely acoustic music, through music electroacoustic improvisation, and various forms of installation and work with borderline multimedia pieces.
