Janacek Quartet The Janacek Quartet was founded in 1947 by students of the Music Conservatory in Brno. Due to their interpretation services in the performances of Janácek’s string quartets, they were granted the right after some years, to bear the name of the composer. From 1955, the quartet began in the cast of Jirí Trávnícek, Adolf Sykora, Jiri Kratochvil and Karel Krafka give concerts abroad and gradually gained an international reputation. Today, the ensemble is known throughout the world. It is regularly invited to major festivals and can have numerous recordings for major record companies. since the formation of the quartet, there was, understandably, to changes in the cast. Remained unchanged, however the artistic credo of the musicians who are pursuing a high expressiveness of the sound with respect to the chamber music discipline. In this way, it builds on the best traditions of Czech and Moravian music and is a welcome guest on the international stage.
