Mozart: Sonatas and Rondos - Marcia Hadjimarkos

The 'Mozart year' may be behind us, but there will always be room and demand for a first-class disc of his music, especially this one! Marcia Hadjimarkos hails from the USA, but now makes her home in France. Known as a specialist performer on historical keyboard instruments, she plays a superb 1992 copy by Christopher Clarke of a 1793 fortepiano made by Sebastian Lengerer in Kufstein, Tyrol, itself inspired by the pioneering builders Stein of Augsburg. Her recording on the Zig-Zag Territoires label of Haydn sonatas played on the clavichord was awarded a Diapason d'Or.

Marcia Hadjimarkos's first CD for AVIE brings a beautifully recorded recital of keyboard works by Mozart: three great sonatas (KV 457, KV 333 and KV 545) are interspersed by the three rondos (KV 494, KV 485 and KV 511) to make up a very well-filled CD.

The recording was produced by Père Casulleras, a much respected specialist in early music and period performance.

"...Very highly recommended."
