What an amazing rapport these two have and now we have the entire Rachmaninov Piano orchestra favourites to review. Liverpool Phil are known as the best Russian Orchestra outside of Russia, by this CD you will hear they are probably a bit better than that.
The performance never tries to impress for the sake of it, it is controlled and purposeful throughout. Nevertheless the playing is sonorous and impassioned.
One note: The last few tracks had a loud swoosh across parts of them. I mailed the support desk and they re-cut and re-sent them instantly. Pretty impressive when Amazon often just say sorry and take off sale under the same circumstances.
And also cheaper than anyone else.
Can't go wrong!
