Almost a century after the Hamburg premiere of Brahms’s song cycle ’Magelone " , when shipped, as Brahms himself reported, it was "howled down" this work and what DISPARAGED Performed seldom silent. It was not recorded at all until the early 1940s and even then only in incomplete Form.
