The new Chandos is also performed on period instruments… The playing of this Italian quartet, begun in 1986, is polished and very good. The recording is full and well-balanced, and the notes are good.
American Record Guide

There are three recordings using period instruments and this is the best. The performers find the right fire or lyricism when needed, and also use their period instruments to find unique colours.
BBC Music Magazine

It [the Quartet] is a fascinating piece, excellently played here; and both works are recorded with a sympathetic ear to the notorious problems of balancing chamber music which involves piano and strings, even on 'period' instruments'.

Two of the best-loved chamber works, staunch celebrations of E flat, are coupled here in performances whose subtle period reflavouring is immediately apparent.
