'What sets this performance apart from most others are the comparative lightness of its orchestral and choral sonority, transparency of its texture and utter avoidance of stodgy sentimentality… In short this is a warmly recommended release'

'It is gorgeously recorded and captured in that sumptuous sound that Chandos has become famous for. The Danish forces under Gerd Albrecht are magnificent, and Bo Skovus is possessed of one of those Scandinavian tones that are rich, full and sensuous, a perfect match for the darkness of his part. Soprano Inger-Dam Jensen is extremely moving in the touching 'memorial' movement, 'Ihr habt nur Traurigkeit' (she actually brought a lump to my throat), and she blends seamlessly with the choir.'
