This latest disc in the series includes three premiere recordings of unpublished works

Marco Sollini is a respected pianist, scholar and teacher

This is the third and final volume in the series

In the third volume of this well-received series, Marco Sollini continues his journey through Rossini’s the substantial piano compositions performing the first recordings of three unpublished works, including Valzer, which was dedicated to the wife of Carl Rothschild. Nothing is known about the dedicatees of the other two unpublished pieces in this recording, the Moderato in la bemolle maggiore and the Valzer in mi bemollecmaggiore, though we may deduce that they must have been members of the most select, solid middle class in France. These works are coupled with the Peches de vieillesse: Album pour les Enfante Adolescentes.

In these extraordinarily prophetic works Rossini anticipated the neo-classical movement, whose exponents included his young admirer Saint-Saëns and Stravinsky. These sparkling and witty compositions, cannot fail to entertain.

‘…playing that impresses in terms of its passion and strength, with full and opulent engineering to match’
International Piano

‘…an affectionate interpreter who is receptive to Rossini’s gentle wit…’
International Record Review on Volume One

‘The relish and panache of his (Sollini) playing here are not to be gainsaid and the recordings are superb’
Gramophone

‘Impressive virtuosity…’
BBC Music Magazine on Volume One
