Gottfried August Homilius left behind an extensive oeuvre. It contains among others numerous motets, cantatas and oratorios. The compositions of Homilius were widespread and extremely popular in their time. To celebrate its 300th Birthday appear at Carus several albums with works of this "best [n] church composer [s]" (JF Reichardt) of his time.

Homilius’ motets are among the most challenging and most interesting works of the choral literature. Who was born exactly 300 years ago, composer succeeds in these pieces a captivating combination of contrapuntal writing and the new, sensitive style of his time. After the sensational first episode with Frieder Bernius and the Stuttgart Chamber Choir, the Vocal Ensemble sirventes Berlin provides under Stefan Schuck another selection from the more than 60 motets by Homilius
