 Creed, Marcus

For more than twenty years choral conductor and musicologist Clytus Gottwald has prepared piano transcriptions of songs or instrumental pieces for a cappella choir.
In this  masterful interpretation, the SWR Vocal Ensemble Stuttgart performs transcriptions of works by Alma and Gustav Mahler, including the famous "Adagietto" from Symphony No. 5 prepared for a sixteen voice choir.

"... these transcriptions are so intense that emotional and intellectual fatigue is a risk for listeners... Beautiful stuff, this, but it is far from relaxing!"

Raymond Tuttle - Fanfare - July/August 2013

"Clytus Gottwald’s choral transcriptions are amazing largely because of his extreme empathy with the originals. The highlight of this recording is the Adagietto from Gustav Mahler’s Fifth Symphony, for which Gottwald carefully selected an appropriate poem by Eichendorff. The performane is superb, fully meeting both emotional and technical demands ..."   ****

Patric Standford - Choir & Organ magazine - July/August 2013
