Though little known today, Andreas Hammerschmidt was one of the most important masters of the early German Baroque and ranked among the greatest Protestant-Lutheran church music composers of his time. This album with the stellar ensemble Gli Scarlattisti presents his vocal works for Passiontide and Easter as well as a "Dixit Dominus" by contemporary Johann Rosenmüller.
