After a long pause we are now continuing our distinguished series of Bach’s apocryphal works in performances led by Wolfgang Helbich. Like its predecessors, this recording makes an important contribution toward the full musical documentation of Bach’s performance repertoire. Our production aims at enabling listeners to enjoy such music by Bach’s predecessors and contemporaries (or sometimes of his own authorship after all?) and arousing their interest in what such composers have in common with him and what differentiates them from him.

"...Helbeich and his choral and instrumental forces present vibrant, alert performances of this variegated collection. The recorded sound maintains CPO’s customary standards of excellence ... it will definately appeal to completeists who want to ensure that they indeed have every scrap of the master’s music, and also to those interested in works that Bach himself evidently found worthwhile."

James A Altena - Fanfare - November/December 2012

"...The performances here continue Helbich’s high standards. He has two distinct quartet groups, the Gesualdo Consort of Amsterdam, and a foursome from the Bremen Music High School, along with his carefully honed Alsfelder Vocal Ensemble and his Hanover Hafkapelle instrumentalists... their singing is smooth precise, and generally pleasing, and the solo vocalists are uniformly excellent..."

John W Baker - American Record Guide - July/August 2012
