Johann Nepomuk David is an Austrian symphonist from the generation of Hindemith, Distler and Pepping whose music has been in urgent need of revival. His music demands in special measure active participation, a close listening to the musical structure; it is only in this way that it becomes possible to let oneself be moved by the deep emotional content of this music.
