In the field of baroque concerto those by Vivaldi are relatively well known; however those of his contemporary Giacomo Facco were discovered only fairly recently and many remain unkown - and they are very fine, lively and tuneful works. This recording includes two (and we hope to record many more soon). The baroque concerto was introduced into Mexico by the Spanish and their European visitors, and as there were no harpsichords locally, it became the practice to perform the continuo on local instruments - here, the guitarron and vihuela. This gives the music an added ’bounce’ and rythmic vitality and introduces a new fresh sound for this familiar with the Vivaldi.
