 Thanks to a number of popular lieder, the name Lahusen is fairly familiar to many music lovers, but even among the most experienced choir leaders very few know that they form a relatively minor part of a wide range of works totalling almost one thousand pieces. Hardly anyone is aware of the fact that a rare wealth of melody and harmony - representing a fine synthesis between the strict composition of early Baroque and the inspired variety of sound of the late Romantics - is just waiting to be released on the world of music.

 
It is the aim of this portrait of the composer to provide an introduction - acoustic and textual - to this wealth. The portrait is based on a representative cross-section of the Lieder and choral works created by Lahusen on Lake Constance between 1931 and 1961 (his «Überlinger Werk»).
