Originally issued in a linited edition on Calico classics, this is a fine recital of classical sonatas by young British pianist Jill Crossland, including the ’composite’ sonata in F by Mozart, Beethoven’s ’Tempest’ and his late Op 110. Described by the Penguin Guide as ’a highly individual player, thoughtful yet compelling’ she is able to carry into the studio the spontaneity of a live performance, and her often thought-provoking and unothadox interpretations are very convincing and magnetic in their approach.
