Marie HALLYNCK, violoncello; Sophie HALLYNCK, harp.

The two sisters Marie and Sophie Hallynck are not only famous virtuosi on their respective instrument, they are also faithful partners in chamber music, founding the excellent Arpae ensemble more than ten years ago. Their duet had not been recorded: this is now corrected, with a colourful and delightful recital which sounds twice the tradition: the tradition of the suite, and the tradition of the transcription. Composed or constructed in the first half of the 20 th century, the suites presented here, show four different faces of their time, investigating in the, then unknown field of ancient music (Marais and, via Strawinsky, the Italian Settecento), the impressionnism, so charming on the harp (Tournier) and the immaculatest folklore (de Falla).
