In her new Genuin album, the pianist Rieko Yoshizumi draws us into a real whirlwind of pictures: From the friendly curiosity with which we enter the first promenade of Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” to the outbursts, the fading away, the spraying foam of Claude Debussy’s “Isle joyeuse”: Absolute plasticity, love of detail and a perfect sense of timing characterize the performance in this production. In any case, this wonderfully painted, drawn and nimbly dotted music requires less space than a whole living room full of oil paintings... And there’s no need to hammer a nail into the wall, either!
