You could answer in only a few words: Just listen to this fantastic, virtuoso, suggestive music, which immediately transports you to the day and age of Brahms and Liszt! Markovina has undertaken the extremely laudable first complete recording of the piano music of this almost forgotten Frankfurt composer (1850-1907). Of even greater merit, however, is with what inspiration she does it: She sings on the piano, she lets the soaring music breathe, so that you ask yourself why you have not felt the absence of these wonderful character pieces all along… Listeners eagerly await Markovina’s promised second volume!
