Genuin presents the third release in the “Hommage `a Debussy” series. This time, we are introduced to young Chinese pianist Chenyin Li. Chenyin has collected an impressive array of international first prizes including the European Beethoven Gold Medal, the Jacques Samuel Competition, The Sheffield Piano Competition, the Dudley International Competition and the Campillos International Piano Competition. Chenyin Li wraps the listeners in the sonic garlands of "L’Isle joyeuse." She travels with us to the "Pagodes" of the Far East and visits "Gardens in the Rain." And not least, she presents the great second cycle of Préludes: each individual piece is as beautiful as a Monet, finely chiselled, with colours as if drawn out of a rainbow... music to dream by!
"...Her [Chenyin Li] approach to Debussy is fresh and direct, and her lively tempos make such pieces as l’isle joyeuse align with what Debussy surely intended... Her Feux d’artifice has exactly the kind of fireworks you want, never sound empty or brash. A few lesser-known pieces such as the Morceau de concours played with fine sensibility show a pianist who is fully at ease with the Impressionistic idiom." ****
