Young people in Venezuela are certainly born with an instinct for mambo... However, only in the past decade have young orechstral musicians from there caught the attention of audiences around the world by raising the temperature in concert halls. Now the Banda Sinfónica Simón Bolívar, directed by Thomas Clamor, is on the verge of taking the world by storm. The new GENUIN classics recording features works from Mendelssohn to Mussorgsky, from classical concertante repertoire all the way to Latin rhythms full of irrepressible energy: Perfect intonation, exceptional ensemble sound, razor-sharp rhythms... From the very first bar, the albums’ infectious rhythms will bring listeners to their feet: ¡Ay, qué rico!

"... these performances are such that if someone played this CD for me and toled me that the band in question was the Dallas Wind Symphony, or one of the other major bands of our time, I would have no trouble beleiving him, such is the degree of precision and polish that these young people bring to bear on this music. Recommended, then, to a far larger audience than just band enthusiasts, although certainly none of them will want to miss this disc."

David DeBoor Canfield - Fanfare - November/December 2013

"... If you like band and wind music even a little, this disk is irresistable, and the sound is terrific."

Roger Hecht - American Record Guide - May/June 2013
