There were many famous and talented composers and conductors on the American Light Music Scene of the 1940s and 1950s, and some names still trigger wistful smiles of recognition to members of the older generation around the world. Others may have been temporarily forgotten, although the contents of this CD should rekindle some pleasant reminders - as did the first American collection on Guild GLCD5105. Younger music lovers now have the opportunity to discover why recordings by the likes of David Rose, Andre Kostelanetz, Percy Faith, Morton Gould, Victor Young, Nelson Riddle - and so many others brought enjoyment to countless millions during the middle years of the 20th century.
"...unpretentious in spirit but often scrupulous in craftsmanship, especially the best known. Transfers are effective and the notes once more a pleasure."
Jonathan Woolf
"...an attractive compilation."
