Czeslaw Marek, who died in 1985 aged 94 was a Polish-born composer and pianist who settled in Switzerland where he became a noted figure as a composer and pedagogue. His compositions are dominated by his significant output of music for solo piano, and we are pleased to be able to offer these distinguished recordings of his complete music for this instrument, played by the excellent artist Marie-Catherine Girod. These recordings won wide acclaim on their first appearance and we are honoured to reissue them in this new format, where we believe this noble music will find a wider audience. The recording quality is first-class and we commend this set of albums as an outstanding addition to Guild’s important releases of music by Swiss composers.
"...The recorded sound is excellent and Girod’s playing is colorful and supple. She conveys the warmth and refinement that, based on his music, must have been charactersitic of Marek’s own playing. Highly recommended."
