Although Zino Francescatti (1902-1991) had a long and successful career, which ended in 1976 with his retirement, the number of his recordings available today is surprisingly low. His incomparably noble tone and beauty of his playing were celebrated throughout the major concert venues of the world. This performance of the Brahms violin concerto is a rarity, as it was recorded just two years before his retirement.
