The four Orchestral Suites or Overtures BWV 1066 – 1069 were composed by Bach between 1725 and 1739 in Leipzig. These, together with the ‘Brandenburg’ Concertos, represent Bach’s entire orchestral output (not counting the various concertos for violin, harpsichord, and oboe). And yet, these ten works have come to define the baroque style at its zenith. For this download, legendary interpretations by Helmuth Rilling and the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra have been chosen.
