Compositions for guitar and harp are very rare. Not less than four of the works released here were composed for Maximilian Mangold and Mirjam Schröder and dedicated to them. It is very interesting to follow the divers forms used in these compositions.
The spectrum reaches from Cortes‘s Graelsia and Sesslers Sonata which are built in classical three set form to the four set Ballade by Andriessen in which the sets follow each other without interruption, up to the Mitternachtsmusik by Leyendecker which is a one set but nevertheless three part composition. An experiment in forms is the Rondes by Bröder, and last but not least we have the Suite Mágica by Argentine composer Pujol in which after a Prelude we find the most popular dance forms of Buenos Aires: Waltz, Tango and Candombe. So this album offers an intensive sound experience and an exiting expedition into the world of contemporary composition.
