*****
Two distinct and adventurous symphonies by Irish composer JOHN KINSELLA full of lyricism and memorable moments. Dreamfully epic akin to Tubin's symphonies, yet here there's an askance eye always ready and willing to skip the body down sly and unlooked-for paths. No.3 is a searching creation wherein feelings of glad ambition initially sparkle before doubt and longing creep into the picture until the epilogue stops all in its tracks with a strange and startling realisation. Symphony No.4 is a mysterious odyssey - a masterwork alive with magical flight, conflicting energies and pastoral darkness. Good discovery.
