  Trio Ulmian Ensemble

Christian Dickhut’s name is still somewhat unfamiliar – and for a long time, his works lay undiscovered in archives and libraries - despite the fact that this passionate horn player, who invented a spring return action, similar to the second valve of modern horns, was well-known during his day.

His Three Serenades and a Trio have maintained their original, entertaining and lively character to this very day – the works boast the “gallant” leitmotive common to the classical-romantic style. The ingenious choice of keys becomes particularly interesting through the unusual instrumental combination of horn, flute and guitar; recorded on authentic instruments in 2006, the four pieces develop their very own special charm.

The members of Trio Ulmian are Michael Schmidt-Castorff (flute), Ulrich Hübner (horn) and Ansgar Krause (guitar). In addition to giving concerts in ensembles and as soloists, all three musicians work as lecturers at renowned music academies.
