Which opera could work better in Reinsberg than "Hansel and Gretel“? An opera, based in a forest and bringing back the forest on the stage. “Which perfection in the creation of it all, which vivid invention, which marvellous polyphony!” wrote Richard Strauss to the composer even before the première, and in fact the work of Engelbert Humperdinck is one of the great master operas of the romantic: virtuoso, colourful, impressive in dramaturgy and construction, composed for experts and lovers, for young

and old.

Michael Sturminger and Nina Ball made fully use of the special qualities of the location Reinsberg with their concept, the chorus of children from all over the region is full of love of singing. Additionally there are excellent soloists (Bobro, Kreusch, Lichtenstein, Kuttler, Vilsmaier, Zamojska) who sung their parts already in the great opera houses of Vienna, Munich, Paris, London and New York, accompanied by the Capella Istropolitana under the baton of Martin Haselböck.
A masterly piece, presented on a unique location with a distinctive ambience.
