Recorded in the Wren Library in Trinity College, Cambridge, these beautiful medieval carols include famous works such as ‘Ther is no rose’, the ‘Agincourt’ carol and ‘Nova, nova’. The performances include accompaniment on a wide range of medieval instruments including the psaltery, plectrum lute and the ethereal gemshorn.

"...As an ingenious programming idea, the disc is based around a complete performance of the earliest surviving manuscript of carol music ... The performances are very cleanly done, with all texts presented complete and all intonation absolutely excellent..."

David Fallows - Gramophone magazine - Christmas Special edition - December 2012

"Here’s a truly scholarly project ... A fascinating, if specialised issue."
