 Stefan Schilli Soloist
 Jansons, Mariss

The perfect ensemble for three masterpieces of the oboe repertoire: At the age of just 20, Stefan Schilli became solo oboist with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 1996, he won the first prize in the ARD Music Competition.

With this album he presents three important oboe concerts from the 20th century; and he could not have chosen a more appropriate and qualified ensemble to accompany him: The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra is one of the world’s most renowned ensembles, and this recording was directed by its conductor-in-chief Mariss Jansons.

Although Richard Strauss, Bernd Alois Zimmermann and Bohuslav Martinu wrote their concertos within a period of just 10 years (1945–1955), they are examples of very different traditions and styles, thus impressively conveying the different views on music that coexisted after World War II.
