At the age of five, she received violin instruction at the Pflüger Foundation from Prof. Wolfgang Marschner and Ariane Mathäus, who have taught her ever since. At the competition "ugend musiziert“ (Youth Making Music) she won first prize in 1998 for the first time.

After many outstanding placings at national and international competitions, Friederike Starkloff won second place at the "7th International Leopold Mozart Competition, Augsburg, 2009“ which formed the basis for this album production.
