Five organist from the Victorian era are at the centre of this sixth album in the series ’Britannic Organ’ from the Museum of Music Automatons in the Swiss Seewen. In the entire history of the Welte-roll manufacture no other country has produced as many virtuoso organists as Britain. Among these, were Cathedral and Town Hall organists who have been trained and celebrated in Victorian England, and were uncompromosing in their standing for tradition. They were still in top form, when these recordings were made.
"... performances are full of energy and musical direction, always expressive yet never over-sentimental. There is much to enjoy here, especially when the restored Welte intrument is so well captured, with great expression and warm colours." ****
