This album features two major works by Finnish composer Pehr Henrik Nordgren: Cronaca (1991), a symphonic work for strings, and the one-movement Fourth Violin Concerto, written for John Storgårds - the soloist and conductor on this recording - in 1994.

"Storgårds has a commanding talent both as violinist and as a musician, and his part could not be performed with more character, especially in the lower register."

C.S - Fono Forum - March 1997

"John Storgårds couples controlled violence with eminent sensitivity. (...) Nordgren’s gift is in writing music which creates profound tension, but which never feels forced."

Catherine Nelson - The Strad - February 1997
