"The repertoire of the Moscow Soloists’ latest CD may not be as adventurous as earlier releases, but the rewards are just as great. True, the Grieg Holberg Suite opens with a Praeludium of such fizz that one fears that it is all going to be too adrenaline-filled, yet the ensuing Sarabande brings an apt veiled sonority, and the rest of the piece is characterised by suavity as much as anything.
This is a small string ensemble - 17 players are listed - with the sonorous weight of a much larger body. It proves too plush to bring any authenticity to Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik, but perfect for the Romantic impetus of Grieg and Tchaikovsky."

"A trifecta force, this CD spotlights three powerful pieces from a trio of impressive and historic composers: Edvard Grieg’s Op. 40, Mozart’s “Eine kleine Nachtmusik,” and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings in C major. Listening to this music on one disc is an absolute delight, especially with Yuri Bashmet and the Moscow Soloists at the helm. ..."

"An extraordinary level of refinement is achieved here as Yuri Bashmet and his Moscow Soloists completely strip away the "pop classics" perception of these three enduring pieces, persuading us to view them in a different light.....This is gorgeous"
