Music for two pianos, and four hands from husband and wife duo, Pascal and Ami Roge. From the glittering Wedding Cake of Saint-Saens, to the tender Dolly Suite by Faure this CD is a delightful recital of well known orchestral works in their lesser heard two piano arrangements. The disc also includes the world premiere recording of Paul Chihara’s ’Ami’, composed for Ami Roge.

Schmaltz ought to be usable as a compliment rather than sounding like an insult. This performance is sweet but not overly so. I wish I knew who is on the left and who on the right in all pieces, but I really cannot tell. Mr Roge, master performer of French piano works, decided to keep his duet partner by marrying her. Must have fallen in love with her musicianship! There are lots of favourites here, delicately frosted with icing sugar and sparkling gently. Light but satisfying.
