Anne Schwanewilms has been called ‘one of the most electrifying singers of our time’ by BBC Radio 3, and is recognized as one of the world’s leading lyric sopranos. Equally at home in the opera house or concert hall, here for her first recording for ONYX she sings Mahler, from Des Knaben Wunderhorn, and a selection of rarer Liszt songs. ‘I love to sing,’ she says. ‘It’s a must for me, and a dream.’

"Her [Schwanewilms] voice encompasses all the requirements for intimate lyrical songs as well the big dramatic outbursts and her tone is certainly among the most beautiful to be heard today. She has a pliable accompanist in the experienced Charles Spencer and the recording is excellent. A fresh and stimulating disc."

"... this is a highly pleasureably programme that can be warmly welcomed by those who crave beautifully vocalized, unusually thoughtful Lieder performences."
