Harmony of Voices, Sweden / Fredrik Malmberg.

Harmony of Voices is a new ensemble consisting of fourteen singers who are otherwise active as solo performers in Sweden or abroad. The point of departure for the ensemble’s style of performance is chamber music – the solo voice in harmony with other voices and instruments. The repertoire consists principally of Early Music but there is also a focus on contemporary works. The ensemble has been chosen as the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation’s “Artist in residence” for the 2004–2005 season and there are other exciting projects planned for the years ahead, for example celebrating the 300th anniversary of M. A. Charpentier’s death.

Fredrik Malmberg is one of Sweden’s leading young choral conductors. He has appeared in various European countries as well as in Asia and the Middle East and has been responsible for a number of radio and CD recordings. He regularly conducts the Swedish Radio Choir which he led on a highly successful tour of Japan in 2001 & 2003. He has also conducted the Danish Radio Choir and worked with instrumental ensembles including Concerto Copenhagen, Stockholm Baroque Orchestra, the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Fredrik Malmberg is currently artistic director of the new vocal ensemble Harmony of Voices. Fredrik Malmberg also teaches – he was a lecturer at the Malmö Academy of Music from 1993–2000 – and gives “master classes” in Sweden and abroad. He studied church music and organ at the Malmö Academy of Music as well as organ and improvisation in Paris and Baroque interpretation with Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Stephen Stubbs and others. He has received av number of prizes and awards from musical institutions including the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
