Édith Piaf, ‘The Little Sparrow’, epitomises French cabaret-singing with her dramatic style and anguished voice and she is instantly recognisable the world over. She overcame desperate poverty to become the brightest of French stars and the best-loved chanteuse of them all. This download offers a portrait of a unique career spanning twenty-two years and gathering up her very best recordings from 1935 to 1957. Retrospective present forty-five carefully selected and skilfully remastered original recordings from the singer whose voice was the very soul of Paris.
