 Yoav Talmi Conductor
 Talmi, Yoav

Conductor Talmi has paired transcriptions such as Stokowski’s well-known arrangement of the Toccata & Fugue in D minor with other more unusual reimaginings of Bach’s works by William Walton, Edward Elgar, Gustav Holst, Anton Webern and Ottorino Respighi.

Bach Metamorphoses includes a transcription of Bach’s Italian Concerto in F Major by Talmi himself, who declared, “Had Bach had a large, powerful ensemble at his disposal, would he have adapted his own works for such an orchestra? In my humble opinion, the answer is undoubtedly YES".

"Yoav Talmi has polished the Quebec Symphony’s sound like never before, and their new Bach transcriptions disc shows off this mettle. Listen to Stokowski’s transcription of BWV 565 with fresh ears, as Disney’s people never experienced it. Walton’s The Wise Virgins suite is welcome... Webern’s transctiption of the six-voice fugue will charm you and Respighi’s notable version of the Passacaglia and Fugue, done for Toscanini, is a fitting close. Higly recommended."
