Judith Bingham (born in Nottingham in 1952 and London-based since 1970) spent several years as a member of the BBC Singers, which may help explain the lyricism of her music. But the works on this album also reveals her strong response to poetry and to place, a keen instinct for drama, an ear for keyboard colour and a Busonian sense of space and atmosphere.

"... Toccata Classics’s generous selection from Judith Bingham’s solo piano oeuvre is a very worthwhile addition to her discography. Faithful to her scrupulously precise indications for dynamics, phrasing, touch and, in particular, pedalling, David Jones makes an ideal guide to these scores. He successfully captures Bigham’s frequently zestful, wayward spirit as well as the haunting interior life of her creations. His compelling interpretations are captured in a realistic sound..."

                 Internationa Piano Choice

"... Jones performs with a clear sympathy for Bingham’s idiosyncratic but lucid keyboard style ... Recommended."

Guy Rickards - International Piano magazine - November/December 2013

"... these sensitively performed and accessible pieces encompass a wide gamut of emotions."  ****

Erik Levi - BBC Music magazine (Brief Notes Section) - September 2013

"... The recording is rich and lifelike, and the performances by David Jones are surely everything the composer would wish for."

William Hedley - International Record Review - July/August 2013
