Previously unissued recordings.

More rare concert performances with Szell from Cleveland and New York. Given between 1953 and 1957, they include concertos played by Clifford Curzon and Alfredo Campoli.

“By releasing “The Art of George Szell” and “Charles Munch conducts Romantic Favourites” West Hill Radio Archives have added immeasurably to our appreciation of two key mid-20th century conductors. Both sets illustrate how, when caught on the wing, both Szell and Munch could inspire performances that not only generate considerable intensity but accommodate what was for them (and for us based on the commercial recordings we have of them) unprecedented levels of expressive flexibility.”

Rob Cowan - Gramophone magazine

“The performances in both sets are vital and thrilling. Precision is razor-sharp without any sacrifice of lyricism or poetry.”

Stephen Habington - La Scena Musicale
