BIOGRAPHY

Irish mezzo-soprano Patricia Bardon came to prominence as the youngest prizewinner at the Cardiff Singer of the World competition. Since then she has sung at many of the world’s leading opera houses including The Metropolitan Opera, New York, and Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; Berlin, Munich, Chicago, Hamburg, La Scala, Florence, San Francisco, Glyndebourne, Amsterdam, Paris-Bastille, Lyon, La Monnaie, Liceu (Barcelona), La Fenice, and Washington DC; and with Welsh National Opera and English National Opera. She is much sought after for her interpretations in the Baroque repertoire where she has taken title roles in Orlando, Giulio Cesare and Tamerlano; and also Rosmira (Partenope), Andronico (Tamerlano), Bradamante and Ruggiero (Alcina), and Penelope (Il ritorno d’Ulisse). She is equally successful in the Bel Canto repertoire with title roles in La cenerentola and Tancredi, Arsace (Semiramide), Malcolm (La donna del lago) and Andromaca (Ermione). Patricia Bardon has sung with many of the great conductors including Mehta, Abbado, Haitink, Mackerras, Jacobs, Rousset, Christie, Davis, Eschenbach and Esa-Pekka Salonen. She enjoys a busy and varied concert repertoire performing with orchestras such as the Philharmonia, New York Philharmonic, OAE, BBC Philharmonic, Les Arts Florissants, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Les Talents Lyrique, Freiburger Barockorchester, Saint Louis Symphony and Orchestre de Paris.
