BIOGRAPHYDescribed by Gramophone as a pianist who brings ‘mastery and sheer musical quality to bear on everything he plays’, and by The Daily Telegraph as one ‘who both thinks and offers full-blooded playing of breadth and depth, in this country… an uncommon creature’, Martin Roscoe is a versatile musician who flourishes in performance, whether as a concerto soloist, recitalist or chamber musician, as he endeavours always to serve the composer and the music. His enduring popularity and solid reputation are built on deeply thoughtful musicianship allied to an easy rapport with audiences and fellow musicians alike. One of Britain’s most prolific recitalists, he performs at the Wigmore Hall, London every season. His chamber music partnerships include long-standing collaborations with artists such as Tasmin Little, Michael Collins, Peter Donohoe, Steven Osborne, the Leopold String Trio and the Brodsky String Quartet, Endellion String Quartet and Sorrel Quartet. His numerous recording projects include ongoing series of Beethoven’s piano sonatas and violin sonatas, the latter with Peter Cropper. On Chandos, Martin Roscoe may be heard in recordings of Richard Addinsell’s ‘Warsaw Concerto’, James MacMillan’s The Berserking, and Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet and ‘The Assault on Krasnaya Gorka’ from the film The Unforgettable Year 1919. |
