BIOGRAPHY

Founded by Simon Standage and the late Richard Hickox, Collegium Musicum 90 has a well-established reputation for its performances of baroque and classical music, its repertoire ranging from chamber pieces to large-scale works for choir and orchestra. Highlights of recent seasons have included appearances at the BBC Proms and concerts at music festivals in Poland, Hungary, Germany, and Austria. Performances by the Collegium Musicum 90 chamber ensemble in the UK, Germany, and Poland have also been enthusiastically received. Under its exclusive contract with Chandos Records, Collegium Musicum 90 has made more than sixty critically acclaimed CDs. Recordings with Simon Standage as director and violin soloist include all the violin concertos of J.S. Bach and Jean-Marie Leclair, as well as orchestral music by Handel, Albinoni, Torelli, Vivaldi, Arne, and Stanley. A series of discs of orchestral, chamber, and choral works by Telemann has championed the cause of this composer, and in recognition of the orchestra’s promotion of his music Simon Standage was awarded the Georg Philipp Telemann Prize for 2010 by the City of Magdeburg.
