Gianandrea Noseda is the new Chief Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic after four years as Principal Conductor. He is also Artistic Director of the Settimane Musicali di Stresa, Principal Conductor of the Orquesta de Cadaqués and, since September 2007, Music Director of the Teatro Regio, Turin.

Since becoming the first foreign Principal Guest Conductor at the Mariinsky Theatre (Kirov Opera) in St Petersburg in 1997, Gianandrea Noseda has appeared throughout the world with leading orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Boston, Toronto and Montreal Symphony orchestras, the Oslo Philharmonic and Swedish, Finnish and Danish Radio Symphony orchestras, the Tokyo and NHK Symphony orchestras, the Orchestre du Capitol de Toulouse and Orchestre national de France. During the 2006/07 season he made his debut with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester in Berlin, the Filarmonica della Scala and Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. His relationship with The Metropolitan Opera began in 2002 with Prokofiev’s War and Peace (which he also conducted at The Royal Opera, Covent Garden and the Teatro alla Scala); he returned in 2006 for Verdi’s La forza del destino.

With the BBC Philharmonic he has toured extensively in Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and the Czech and Slovak republics; after a successful first tour they returned to Japan in 2008. Their live performances of Beethoven’s complete symphonies from the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester have attracted 1.4 million download requests. Gianandrea Noseda’s extensive discography with Chandos includes recordings of music by Respighi, Prokofiev, Karlowicz, Dallapiccola, Dvorák, Shostakovich, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Smetana, Mahler and Wolf-Ferrari.
