BIOGRAPHYThe American soprano Christine Brewer began her professional career with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and has since appeared with New York City Opera, The Royal Opera, Covent Garden, English National Opera, Opéra de Lyon, Théâtre musical du Châtelet in Paris and The Metropolitan Opera, New York. In concert she has performed with the major American and European orchestras under conductors such as John Adams, Christoph von Dohnányi, Ivan Fischer, Raymond Leppard, Andrew Litton, Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Roger Norrington, Donald Runnicles, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Michael Tilson-Thomas and Mark Wigglesworth. She has had recent engagements with The Cleveland Orchestra under Frans Welser-Möst, London Philharmonic Orchestra under Kurt Masur, Orchestra of Santa Cecilia in Rome under Antonio Pappano, National Orchestra of Spain under Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Los Angeles Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta, London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Colin Davis, and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle. For Chandos she has recorded the title role in Beethoven’s Fidelio and Barber’s Vanessa and a recital of operatic arias. Christine Brewer is the recipient of the BBC Radio 3 Listeners’ Award of the 2008 Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards.  |
