At the start of this millenium arose in Valthermond, a small village in the north of the Netherlands, a new concert hall. Dutch pianist Rian de Waal bought together with his wife, mezzo soprano Marion van den Akker, a farm and converted the barn into a concert hall. The hall turned out to be a great place for concerts and chamber music recordings. The Valthermond Recordings presents a fine selection of these recordings made by Rian de Waal and Marion van den Akker. The first volume in the series 'The Valthermond Recordings' is about Rian de Waal playing piano transcriptions of the music by J.S. Bach. In the second volume you will hear Rian de Waal playing Schubert's beautiful last piano sonata (D.960) and four Schubert songs transcribed for piano solo by Franz Liszt.
