Polskie Nagrania

Polskie Nagrania is the oldest Polish record label, its history dating back to the 1930s. Officially founded in 1948 as the state phonographic company Muza, it was transformed into the state company Polskie Nagrania (Polish Records) in 1955. The label introduced the first Polish stereophonic recording (in 1958), made by the Warsaw Philharmonic for Deutsche Grammophon and featuring Sviatoslav Richter as a soloist. Political and economic transformations in the 1990s meant that the label’s monopoly in Poland was dissolved; today it is first and foremost the largest and richest sound archive of Polish music of every kind.
