Founded in 1998 by Martin Souter, organ scholar at Magdalen College, University of Oxford, and internationally known harpsichordist and scholar, The Gift of Music®’s hallmark is the authenticity and the high quality of its recordings. Based in Oxfordshire, the company records its own music, using the latest technology to capture the beautiful sounds of the music of the past. Many albums are made in the fine acoustics of Oxford’s most famous chapels and churches.

The Gift of Music® has something for everyone: beautiful music from Britain’s musical heritage, the timeless chant of the Middle Ages, Elizabethan love songs, the folk music and sea songs of more recent centuries, and a very broad range of fascinating music of all periods. There are favourite classical pieces as well as a whole host of nostalgic songs from both sides of the Atlantic, all programmed to make your listening experience as pleasant as possible.

Authentic instruments and compelling artists such as the leading boys’ choirs at Oxford and Cambridge colleges, and some of the world’s major orchestras, plus informative booklets all help to make The Gift of Music® an outstanding musical experience that customers come back for again and again.
